Sovereign Grace Academy is heading into its third term in September 2019 and many students are already saying wonderful things about how the courses have been affecting their Christian walk. Below is a review which was recently submitted for our summer course “How to Study the Bible”.
“There is an illness in children called ‘failure to thrive’. They are born healthy, have loving care, good nutrition available to them but do not ‘thrive’.
When we are newborn Christian’s, we have all a need to grow and thrive. We have the Spirit to guide us, the Word to teach us, pastors and Christian fellowship to help us grow and minister to others.
Many of us though get to a point and just stop. If you are not growing, you’re stagnating. You’re not thriving.
I am that person.
This is not right. We are to ‘press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus Phil 3:14’. Mature Christians are to eat meat, produce fruit, be salt and light, increase in Godliness, Holiness.
The Sovereign Grace Academy is currently teaching ‘Living by the Book’ by Howard and William Hendricks. For years I felt guilty about not reading the Word or memorizing scripture, hating my lack of spiritual growth. I was doing it wrong – for decades.
The authors explain why it doesn’t work the way I tried…what do do, how to advance to the next logical step, and finally – personal to ME, that the Word is not to satisfy a Biblical curiosity, but like Titus 1:1 says, intended to change me, to grow me, to give me the tools to thrive. If you know you have not grown, if you are the same as you were many years ago and not too happy with it, I urge you to order the book and workbook, listen to the lessons Pastor Keith has recorded. Stop wasting away..you’re going to love the feast prepared for you.
Titus 1:1 … To further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness.” — SGA Student
